Cheryl Hines is getting pretty, pretty, pretty good at dodging any kind of accountability.
On Thursday, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum responded to Chelsea Handler’s claims that Hines and her husband, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., sold her a “toxic” home.

Hines told People in an exclusive published Thursday that she’s “questioning the timing” of Handler’s comments and is curious as to why the comedian decided to speak up now.
“Because she bought this house five years ago and she’s just now complaining about it, which is also, I don’t know that she’s getting a lot of sympathy from people. She’s buying a $6 million house,” Hines said. “And talking about how she feels duped and that we tried to sell her a house that was, her word, ‘toxic,’ which also doesn’t make sense.”
Hines added that the former “Chelsea Lately” host’s complaints don’t “really hold water” because she left Handler her contact information.

“I did write her a personal note when she moved in, just saying how much we love the house. And I hope that she has a beautiful life in this house. And if you need anything, call me. And I left my number,” Hines said. “So I don’t know if we were trying to unload a toxic house on her. I wouldn’t have left my number.”
Hines went on to say that Handler is “just trying to get attention” and that it’s “probably fun for her to make fun of’ her husband.”

Funny enough, mocking Kennedy is exactly how this whole thing began.
Earlier this month, Handler was hosting her podcast “Dear Chelsea” when a listener called in to complain about Kennedy working out at her local gym. The caller seemed weirded out by Kennedy’s penchant for working out “in blue jeans” and said he overwhelmed the “tiny little gym” with his massive security detail of “20 Secret Service.” The fan’s grievances prompted Handler to spill the tea about her personal beef with the health secretary.
Handler said she bought Kennedy’s Los Angeles home “five years ago, [and] I still have not lived in this house.”

“That’s how ****** up this house was,” Handler said. “The idea that this guy is in charge of the health of our country when he didn’t even have a proper foundation at his house?”
Handler said that after buying the home, she was told “this house is the most toxic environment, you cannot live here for at least two years.”

The bestselling author added that her last straw was when she found out that an outdoor storage unit on the property was illegal.
“So now we have to remove his illegal ******** from my property, and I’m like, how did they not find this upon the first inspection?” she said.
She also mentioned Hines’ note, saying she couldn’t believe “the audacity” of leaving a note that said, “Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, Chelsea.”
“I’m like, ‘Yeah, how about a ******* foundation?’” Handler recalled thinking.
Handler later told Jimmy Kimmel that she “didn’t know” she was buying the house from Kennedy and Hines “because it was a blind trust” and a lot of issues with the property “didn’t get caught during inspection” — but added that she did recently move in.
