David Muir is sharing a “major win” for multiple health groups against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his vaccine policy.
The 52-year-old journalist shared a breaking news about the US Secretary of Health and Human Services on the Monday (March 16) episode of World News Tonight. The news involved a federal judge in Massachusetts blocking RFK Jr’s childhood vaccine schedule. David tossed the story to a contributor and to ABC News’ senior national correspondent, Steve Osunsami, who reported that the judge’s ruling overturns nearly all of the changes RFK Jr. brought to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine advisory panel.
The judge sided with medical organizations, who filed a lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services, by blocking the changes to the childhood vaccine that included removing shots for: Rotavirus, Hepatitis A and B, Meningitis, RSV, and Flu. Steve said that health groups like the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), which fought the changes, call this a “major win.”

“It’s a victory for the children of the United States with regards to protecting them against vaccine-preventable diseases,” Dr. Andrew Racine, Ph.D, President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, told World News Tonight.
RFK had previously declared to Congress he wouldn’t modify the existing vaccine recommendations, and did it anyway. These changes have led to protests outside the CDC.

Last summer, the 72-year-old politician fired the experts who made the recommendations and replaced them with 13 people who align more with his views. RFK. Jr. is known to longlife vaccine skeptic and has, for example, promoted the scientifically debunked theory that vaccines cause autism.
The judge is also suspending the 13 replacement members. According to the ABC News evening program, which obtained the court docs, the judge’s decision was explained in part, “there is a method to how these decisions historically have been made – a method scientific in nature and codified into law through procedural requirements. Unfortunately, the Government has disregarded those methods and thereby undermined the integrity of its actions.”

Steve concluded the report by stating that this fight will likely go to the Supreme Court and the government is appealing the judge’s decision. He noted that the AAP said to check first with your child’s doctor in the midst of all this confusion if they have questions.
David Muir replied, “There’s been real whiplash for parents across the country.”
Per NBC News, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and other medical groups filed a lawsuit against the Department of Health and Human Services, stating that RFK Jr’s changes to vaccine recommendations and to the vaccine advisory committee were in violation of federal law.
A Health and Human Services official, Andrew Hughes, said to the outlet that the agency will be appealing the judge’s decision and implied that the case could go to the Supreme Court.
