WASHINGTON (TNND) — Multiple FBI agents are suing the agency and leaders at the Justice Department, alleging that they were illegally fired for kneeling during 2020 protests following the death of George Floyd.
The lawsuit was filed on Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and states that 12 unnamed agents were ordered to be fired by the Trump administration, according to the USA Today news outlet.
Two of the defendants in the lawsuit are Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel.
Following the police killing of George Floyd in 2020, riots and protests broke out all over the country.
Floyd was killed in police custody in 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One officer kneeled on his neck as he was pleading for air.
The officer who kneeled on his neck was charged with murder.

The lawsuit filed Monday alleged that Patel pushed for the 12 agents who kneeled to be fired as soon as he was put in charge of the institution. This lawsuit also comes after other agents in September sued the agency over them being fired over retribution.
