Robert Francis Kennedy Jr., the controversial United States Secretary of Health and Human Services, is back in the news for another set of eyebrow-raising claims, this time about mobile phones. During his latest podcast appearance, the anti-vax activist urged parents to keep children away from phones to keep them from getting “microwaved.”
RFK Jr. talks about kids using phones and shares strict rules
RFK Jr., one of the most controversial figures in American politics, took the opportunity to advocate against kids using cellphones during an appearance on The Bossticks podcast on Monday, March 23, 2026. In the hour-long sitdown, the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services explained how kids’ brains could get microwaved from using mobile phones.
“I mean, it’s frightening when you start reading it,” the 72-year-old said, citing a study from the 1990s that claimed that children’s brains do not return to “normal” for at least 12 hours after using cellphones for even 10 minutes.
“What I tell parents is—and what I do with my kids is—I don’t let them put the cell phone next to their head, ever. Put it on speaker,” he continued, “Your kid should not be sleeping with a cell phone next to their head, which they all do.”
Kennedy also has problems with the guidelines set by the Federal Communications Commission on wireless devices. He has argued that they don’t kick in “until the phone literally begins to raise the temperature inside of your brain or your body, so it’s microwaving you.”
His previous claims around the same issue include the idea that cellphobes cause cellular damage and even cancer. The World Health Organization in 2024 found no connection between cellphone use and brain cancer.
This is hardly the first time that Kennedy has been seen making health claims that have been refuted by experts around the world.
