White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt held an impromptu press briefing at the White House on Monday as the war in Iran continues to escalate.
During the briefing, Leavitt said that there was a reason that previous leaders of the country “are now no longer on planet Earth.” According to Leavitt, leaders within Iran have approached the U.S. privately about ending the conflict.
“When the president says more reasonable, again, these folks are appearing more reasonable behind the scenes, privately in these conversations, than perhaps some of the previous leaders who are now no longer on planet Earth because they lied to the United States,” Leavitt, 28, said. ” They strung us along in negotiations, and that was unacceptable to the president, which is why many of the previous leaders were killed. “

According to Leavitt, “This is another historic opportunity for Iran to do the right thing.” Leavitte later repeated herself, saying that the previous leaders also faced the “consequences of the U.S. Military.”
“And unfortunately, the previous regime, again, many of those leaders no longer with us here on earth because they faced the consequences of the United States military,” she said. “So if there’s ever a chance for a deal, again, the president is open to listening, but it does not deter him from focusing on the military objectives that he set out 30 days ago and that our military is continuing to achieve day by day.”
Leavitt’s shocking comments come after she opened up her briefing by stating that the president and the first lady would be holding an Easter lunch at the White House. “In this Holy Week, President Trump and the First Lady are joining in prayer with Christians celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” she said.
“On Wednesday, the president will host an Easter lunch in the East Room with faith leaders across the country to celebrate Holy Week,” added Leavitt. The presser also comes a day after she attacked the New York Times for exposing various design flaws in Trump’s ballroom.
In the article, the authors flagged that the 90,000-square-foot ballroom features “fake windows on the north side,” columns that “block interior ballroom view,” and an “unnecessarily big” rooftop area. They also pointed out that “its stairs lead nowhere,” with several ground-level staircases appearing to have no connection to the ballroom.
“The New York Times had three random people who have ‘studied fine arts,’ ‘long written about urban planning,’ and never built anything to write an article criticizing the new White House ballroom,” Leavitt posted on X, alongside screenshots of the original story. “President Trump and his lead architect have built world-class buildings around the world, and they are ensuring the People’s House finally has a beautiful ballroom that’s been needed for decades – at no expense to the taxpayer.”
Various concepts for Trump’s ballroom that had been unveiled include a hastily assembled model by a contractor, windows that clash, and a staircase that leads nowhere.
