Trump Speaks After 6 Month Physical: ‘Everything Checked Out Perfectly’

Tevin McLeod - May 26, 2026

President Donald Trump provided a big update on Tuesday afternoon after completing his six-month annual physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

“Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff! Heading back to the White House,” the president wrote on Truth Social.

The White House said the visit will consist of “routine annual dental and medical assessments.”

However, that did not stop social media critics from launching a fresh round of speculation about the president’s health.

Liberal accounts spent Monday circulating claims that Trump had been “rushed” to Walter Reed for some sort of emergency, fueling online chatter that the president was dealing with a serious undisclosed health issue.

The reality seems far less dramatic.

The White House has described the visit as part of Trump’s routine preventive healthcare, with officials saying the appointment was scheduled in advance and is consistent with the regular monitoring presidents receive while in office.

Trump, who turns 80 next month, has remained one of the most visible and active presidents in modern American politics, maintaining a relentless public schedule filled with rallies, meetings, travel, media appearances, and golf outings.

The visit marks Trump’s third scheduled trip to Walter Reed in roughly 13 months and his fourth publicly disclosed medical evaluation since returning to the White House, according to The Washington Post.

White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella has consistently described Trump in glowing terms following previous evaluations.

After Trump’s October 2025 physical, Barbabella said the president demonstrated “strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, and physical performance.”

He also described Trump as being in “excellent health” and “fully fit” to serve as commander in chief.

Trump himself has repeatedly brushed aside questions about his age and fitness.

“I feel literally the same as I did 50 years ago,” Trump recently said, according to Forbes.

The president has frequently pointed to his cognitive test performance as proof that he remains mentally sharp.

Trump has often boasted that he “aced” cognitive exams administered during previous evaluations, using the results to contrast himself with former President Joe Biden, whose age and mental acuity became major issues during the 2024 campaign.

Trump allies argue that the president’s schedule speaks for itself.

Supporters regularly point to his packed calendar, lengthy unscripted public appearances, international travel and frequent campaign-style events as evidence that he continues to possess remarkable stamina.

That has not stopped critics from continuing to speculate.

Some media outlets and outside physicians have raised questions about visible bruising on Trump’s hands, occasional swelling in his legs, and moments where he appeared tired during public appearances.

The White House has offered explanations for those concerns.

Officials have said the bruising on Trump’s hands is the result of constant handshaking combined with his daily aspirin regimen, which he reportedly takes for cardiac prevention.

The administration has also aggressively pushed back against broader online rumors suggesting undisclosed health emergencies.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously blasted those claims directly.

“Clearly organized misinformation campaign peddled by left-wing accounts,” Leavitt said of the speculation surrounding prior rumors about Trump’s health.

The latest frenzy appears to follow a familiar pattern.

Trump’s age, health and physical appearance have become recurring topics for critics and members of the legacy media, particularly as the president continues pushing an aggressive agenda on immigration, foreign policy, trade and national security.

Allies argue the focus is politically motivated.

They point out that much of the same media downplayed visible concerns surrounding Biden during his presidency, only to later acknowledge growing questions about his cognitive performance.

In addition to the medical evaluation, Trump’s visit to Walter Reed also included meetings with military personnel.
