Trump Disputes Reports Of Depleted Weapons, Vows To ‘Hunt Down’ Leakers

President Trump is the most undermined commander-in-chief in modern history, as evidenced by the number of “leaks” of classified information during his first and second terms.

But almost worse than leaks of secret info are stories planted in the media that aren’t true but aimed at undermining him and his entire administration, while simultaneously making our country look weak and incapable under Trump.

The latter appears to have happened again this week.

Two “anonymous sources” told CBS News this week that the United States has used nearly all of its available inventory of Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM) during the conflict with Iran.

Reuters first reported that the U.S. had expended “virtually all” of its long-range precision missiles during Operation Epic Fury.

But Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Thursday to not only dispute the claims but also to send a warning to the sources who planted the reportedly false information.

“The U.S. has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. Additionally, large amounts are being manufactured and shipped to the U.S. as needed,” the commander-in-chief wrote.

“Defense companies are building the largest number of plants and factories in our country’s history,” his post continued.

“The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!” Trump added.

CBS News previously reported that U.S. stockpiles of long-range precision weapons and defensive interceptors have come under increasing strain during the conflict, raising concerns within the administration about the pace at which key munitions are being consumed.

U.S. officials said inventories of ATACMS and Precision Strike Missiles are limited, while the most immediate concern involves supplies of Patriot and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptors, which have been expended faster than manufacturers can replenish them.

A July report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) estimated that the United States had approximately 2,330 Patriot missile interceptors before the conflict with Iran began.

By the end of July, the report estimated that inventory had fallen to between 759 and 827 interceptors.

The same report estimated that U.S. stockpiles of Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptors declined from approximately 452 before the conflict to between 234 and 278 as of July 27.

A separate CSIS analysis projected that, at current production rates, it could take until at least mid-2029 for U.S. inventories of both Patriot and THAAD interceptors to return to their estimated pre-war levels.

But again, Trump and his administration are denying reports of dangerously dwindling weapons stockpiles.

“America’s military is the most powerful in the world and has everything it needs to execute at the time and place of the President’s choosing,” chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told CBS News.

“We have executed multiple successful operations across combatant commands while ensuring the U.S. military possesses a deep arsenal of capabilities to protect our people and our interests,” he added.

In June, War Secretary Pete Hegseth told CBS News’ Margaret Brennan, “That is a manufactured story that the media wants to peddle and ultimately our stockpiles are great, and they’re only getting stronger.”

Another story making its rounds via anonymous sources is that Trump “blew up” at his advisers including Hegseth over the ongoing Iran conflict while meeting with his Cabinet at Camp David late last month.
