President Donald Trump could be preparing an unusually aggressive campaign push as Republicans battle to maintain control of Congress in November.
The president’s strategy would effectively ask Republican voters to treat the midterm elections as though Trump himself were once again on the ballot.

Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy revealed Friday that discussions are underway about an extraordinary amount of presidential travel during the final weeks of the campaign.
If those plans materialize, Trump could spend much of October crisscrossing the country on behalf of Republican candidates.
“We are hearing some whispers of a ton of Trump travel in October, possibly as much as a Trump rally a day in the most competitive states and districts,” Doocy said.

Doocy noted that such an intensive schedule would be unusual for a sitting president during midterm elections, which historically present serious challenges for the party controlling the White House.
Trump’s message to Republicans, according to Doocy, is essentially to “pretend like he is on the ballot” when voters head to the polls.

But Doocy argued that Trump’s political future and second-term agenda effectively do make him part of nearly every major congressional contest.
“If Democrats win control of the House or the Senate, it’s just going to be constant investigations,” Doocy said.
He added that Democratic control of Congress could give the opposition party the ability to investigate the administration, challenge policies enacted during Trump’s second term and create political momentum for its eventual 2028 presidential nominee.
“And so Donald Trump, his name might not be right there, but he is on the ballot at pretty much every line,” Doocy said.
The potential October blitz comes as Trump has already begun placing himself directly into some of the country’s most competitive races.
That includes Texas, where Republican Senate nominee and state Attorney General Ken Paxton is facing Democrat James Talarico in a race Republicans once would have expected to win comfortably.
Trump traveled to Texas this week as Republicans increasingly focus attention and resources on protecting the seat.
“I’m going to help Ken Paxton,” Trump told reporters before the trip, adding that he intends to “spend a lot of time in Texas.”
The contest has become substantially more competitive following a bruising Republican primary in which Paxton defeated longtime Sen. John Cornyn.

Democrats have also benefited from Talarico’s formidable fundraising operation, with his campaign reporting approximately $30 million raised during the most recent quarter.
The nonpartisan Cook Political Report recently moved the Texas Senate contest from Lean Republican to Toss Up, demonstrating just how dramatically the political environment has changed.
Republicans nevertheless maintain several financial advantages heading into the final stretch and argue that Texas donors are beginning to rally around Paxton.
The Republican National Committee and allied organizations are also expected to play significant roles in congressional races across the country.

Trump’s potential involvement could provide something campaign committees cannot easily replicate: enormous media attention and the ability to draw thousands of supporters to rallies in competitive states and congressional districts.
MAGA Inc., the super PAC aligned with the president, has similarly indicated that it plans events around the country designed to help Republicans maintain congressional control.
The stakes extend well beyond individual candidates because Democrats need congressional gains to limit Trump’s ability to advance his agenda during the final two years of his term.

Republicans, meanwhile, are confronting the traditional midterm challenge facing a president’s party while defending competitive seats across several states.
That explains why Trump’s presence could become increasingly visible as Election Day approaches.
If the plans described by Doocy materialize, October may look less like a traditional presidential midterm schedule and more like the final month of one of Trump’s own presidential campaigns.
