Michigan Man Says Voting Records Show Two Absentee Votes He Never Cast — Mother Turned Away After Poll Workers Said She “Already Voted”

adrianoreid@hotmail.com - September 9, 2026

The Gateway Pundit’s Patty McMurray has spent years documenting Michigan’s broken voter rolls, missing Detroit absentee envelopes, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s war on anyone who tries to clean up the mess. A Flint resident now says the same system put phantom absentee activity under his name and blocked his mother at the polls.

A Flint man says Michigan’s official voter file is showing absentee ballots he never requested and never mailed, and that his mother was refused an in-person ballot after election workers told her she had already voted.

Kevin Tay laid out the claim in an interview with Dave Bondy of Keeping it Real. Bondy published the sit-down on Tuesday.

“It never, it never happened,” Tay told Bondy, according to The Midwesterner. “I actually only voted one time in my life, and I voted at the city of Flint up on the third floor in the council chamber, and that was for (former) Mayor (Karen) Weaver.”

Tay said he has never used an absentee ballot.

“No, I don’t even know what an absentee ballot looked like,” he said.

When he checked his own voter information, the record showed two prior absentee votes. Tay says that is false. He voted once, in person, for Weaver.

His mother ran into the same wall at the polling place.

“When she got there, they told her she already voted. She couldn’t vote,” Tay said.

He says she never requested an absentee ballot and never received one at the house.

“These absentees, my mother never even received one to her house,” he said, adding that she has “never in her life” voted absentee.

Tay does not buy the “clerical error” explanation.

“Ain’t no mistake because how did I go into absentee ballot? That’s not a mistake. That’s not transparency.”

He also raised a question that should bother anyone who still pretends Michigan’s absentee system is airtight: how do workers “spoil” a ballot that has already gone through a tabulator?

“My mother asks, okay, you spoiled this ballot, but this ballot [was] already put in the machine. How do you go in and get that exact ballot number and pull it back out,” Tay said. “So that ballot has already been counted. So now my mother’s vote has been counted twice.”

He said his mother was not alone. About ten people ahead of her and three men behind her were also turned away after workers claimed they had already voted absentee. They were “having a fit,” Tay said.

“It’s a lot of people that then came out, and there’s more that’s going, but it’s happened to a lot of people. And where’s these absentee ballots?”

Tay is not running a partisan operation. He is a Flint resident who says the state used his name.

“I don’t care if you’re Republican, Democrat, green, purple, yellow,” he said. “Your vote is your vote. That’s your voice. That’s your rights, and that’s your independency of life. And if they’re using our vote for the way they want to use them, then it’s not our vote. It’s not our voice.”

Kevin Tay says the discovery pushed him to call the FBI, the state elections bureau, Michigan State Police, county sheriffs, and anyone else who would pick up the phone.

“I called the FBI. I called everybody. The election bureau. We called so many people. I mean, I got a list of everybody I didn’t call.”

“I only voted one time,” Tay said. “So by them using my name multiple times in the way that I voted. That’s like putting a criminal case on you, without you remembering it.”

That is the same complaint Flint residents made after the 2022 election.

The Gateway Pundit reported in December 2022 that Flint residents stood before the Michigan Board of State Canvassers and described fraud, unbalanced precincts, and a city clerk’s office that would not even certify its own numbers, while the state still certified the results.

Former Mayor Karen Weaver told The Midwesterner in May that Flint voters in 2022 were told they had already voted when they showed up in person. Weaver’s team and Flint NAACP political action chair Aonie Gilcreast sent concerns about absentee ballots — including the possibility someone was “padding the ballot box with absentee” ballots — to Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s office.

The response, Weaver said, was that they were “pushing a Republican agenda.”

“A Republican agenda? … Don’t we all want to trust the election process?” Weaver asked. “That shouldn’t be partisan.”
