Virginia Early Voting Numbers Released

Tevin McLeod - October 21, 2026

Virginia’s latest early voting analysis shows Republicans improving their modeled share against previous elections, despite a substantial Democratic advantage.

Election commentator E DataGuy published his Virginia update on October 21, reporting 822,770 ballots recorded in his tracking system.

His graphic assigned 463,678 ballots to Democrats, representing 56.36 percent of the total.

Republicans received 353,513 modeled ballots, representing 42.97 percent, while another 5,579 were classified as other.

The analyst calculated a Democratic firewall of 110,165 ballots, the difference between his estimated partisan totals.

That gap is not an official election margin because Virginia does not register voters by political party.

The analyst’s classifications therefore represent estimates, not confirmed Democratic or Republican votes.

Nevertheless, the comparisons within his model contain developments Republicans can examine closely.

Republicans increased their modeled share by 1.02 percentage points compared with the corresponding 2024 benchmark.

Against the analyst’s 2022 comparison, their modeled share rose by 1.70 percentage points.

The model also lists 2024 Republican participation at 41.95 percent for comparison.

Democrats declined 0.72 percentage points against 2024 and 1.65 points against 2022 in the same graphic.

Those comparisons suggest a narrower modeled partisan gap, although their reliability depends on the underlying methodology.

The graphic also reported 23,092 additional Republican classified ballots since the previous day’s update.

Democratic classified ballots increased by 28,463, while the other category gained another 299.

Its most relevant Republican finding is improvement against the analyst’s own historical partisan benchmarks.

The remaining voting period leaves substantial room for additional ballots and changes in estimated participation.

Republican organizers also benefit from significant national financial resources heading into the campaign’s final weeks.

An Associated Press review estimated approximately 1 billion dollars across several Republican-aligned political organizations.

Comparable Democratic organizations controlled roughly $579 million in that assessment, illustrating the Republican financial advantage.

Those totals combine separate groups and cannot be treated as money available to a single campaign.

President Donald Trump’s allied super PAC MAGA Inc. represented a particularly large component of those resources.

It reported nearly $416 million available at the end of August, according to campaign finance reporting.

More recent filings showed MAGA Inc. spending $277 million from September through mid-October.

That spending supported Republican candidates across several competitive congressional and Senate contests.

The same reporting indicated another $25 million raised during that period.

Since its creation following Trump’s reelection, MAGA Inc. reportedly raised $449 million overall.

By mid-October, MAGA Inc. still reported substantial reserves despite its aggressive spending schedule.

Trump also said his broader political operation had committed approximately $400 million to midterm efforts.

His figure included advertising, voter contact, rallies, and election monitoring activities.

Outside political committees are subject to different legal rules than candidate campaigns, including restrictions on certain types of coordination.

Republican congressional committees have separately assembled resources for House and Senate campaigns.

The National Republican Congressional Committee reported raising $50 million during the third quarter.

It entered October with approximately $61 million available, according to published fundraising coverage.

In September, the committee had reported $89 million in cash and an advantage over Democrats.

Those figures refer to different reporting dates and should not be added together.

The Republican National Committee and Senate campaign organizations also maintain distinct fundraising and spending operations.

Campaign resources can finance television advertising, digital messaging, organizing, research, and direct voter contact.

Republican groups have already deployed significant funds in competitive races outside Virginia.

Money does not guarantee electoral success, especially when advertising becomes more expensive near Election Day.

Democratic campaigns and aligned organizations also possess significant resources and established voter outreach operations.

For Virginia Republicans, the early voting model’s improved historical comparison offers a measurable development worth tracking.

Republican fundraising strength provides resources for that contest, while Virginia’s voters retain the final decision.
