Major Update On Early Voting In Georgia

Tevin McLeod - October 21, 2026

Georgia’s Senate race entered a new phase Tuesday as early voting surpassed one million ballots across the crucial battleground state.

An analysis from election commentator E DataGuy assigned Democrats a narrow advantage among ballots already recorded.

His graphic listed 1,026,997 early and mail ballots, with 525,036 classified as Democratic and 494,078 as Republican.

Another 4,122 ballots appeared separately, although the displayed categories do not sum to the reported total.

The difference between the Democratic and Republican estimates was 30,958 votes, labeled the model’s firewall.

The race is extremely close and could tighten as Election Day nears in less than two weeks.

Georgia does not register voters by party, preventing official partisan breakdowns of early ballots.

Georgia’s secretary of state reported 1,007,015 in-person early votes by noon Tuesday, exceeding the comparable 2022 figure.

Another 48,916 accepted absentee ballots brought the official combined total to 1,055,931 at that reporting point.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger credited election workers and public confidence for the strong participation.

Early voting continues through October 30, ahead of the November 3 general election.

Georgia’s contest includes Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff, whose seat Republicans are seeking to capture.

The race has attracted attention because control of the Senate affects judicial confirmations and federal legislation.

Republicans argue that economic pressures, immigration enforcement, and government spending deserve greater attention from Washington.

Neither campaign can treat participation alone as proof of voter preference or eventual victory.

The analyst’s 30,958 vote estimate also represents only a small share of the reported early ballot total.

Georgia’s recent history emphasizes the necessity of turnout across metropolitan communities and smaller counties.

Republicans also have substantial, well-documented nationwide financial resources available for the closing weeks of the midterm campaign.

An Associated Press review estimated one billion dollars across Republican organizations.

The comparable collection of Democratic groups held approximately $579 million, according to the same report.

Those figures represent multiple organizations rather than a single account available to any candidate.

The largest Republican funding source included MAGA Inc., the super PAC aligned with President Donald Trump.

MAGA Inc. held nearly $416 million at the end of August, according to campaign finance reporting.

That reserve provided capacity for advertising across several closely contested states and congressional districts.

Fresh filings showed Trump’s political operation had already committed hundreds of millions to the midterm effort.

The operation also raised $25 million, according to the report.

Campaign finance filings showed prominent wealthy donors supporting the effort with substantial contributions.

The committee said it raised $50 million during that period and entered October holding 61 million.

Its September receipts totaled $28.5 million, including a transfer from the Republican National Committee.

The NRCC reported raising $250 million during the cycle, exceeding its Democratic counterpart’s cumulative total.

Those committee figures concern House elections and cannot simply be counted as Georgia Senate campaign funds.

Nevertheless, they demonstrate the scale of Republican fundraising across multiple fronts in the congressional elections.

Outside groups can pay for advertising, voter contact, and other activities subject to campaign finance rules.

Some Trump-aligned organizations have focused substantial spending on competitive Senate contests, including Texas and Michigan.

Advertising expenses can rise near Election Day, limiting the number of messages each dollar purchases.

Republican strategists have acknowledged that money alone cannot overcome every difficult electoral environment.

Democratic organizations also maintain substantial resources and continue financing competitive campaigns nationwide.

For Georgia, the crucial distinction remains between a modeled partisan advantage and the actual votes eventually counted.

The race is extremely close and could tighten as Election Day nears in less than two weeks.
