Gasoline prices in Asia are skyrocketing, and retailers are unable to find alternative
sources of supply. Aviation is under pressure Thousands of flights canceled. Airlines are
refueling more, flying detours, and planning emergency refueling stops.
British Airways' parent company loses 6%, easyJet loses 4%. US airlines must pay
~$120 per barrel after discontinuing their fuel hedging programs. Many airlines are
rethinking their growth plans.
Energy shock Fuel prices are rising rapidly in Australia, Asia, and Europe. Ruwais
refinery (922,000 barrels/day) out of operation after drone attack. Saudi Arabia's largest
refinery offline. Qatar's largest LNG plant affected.
Strait of Hormuz Risk of complete closure growing. JPMorgan warns: -4.7 million
barrels/day could disappear from the market if the passage remains blocked until day
18.
