Nicki Minaj has shown some love to SpaceX founder Elon Musk during a visit to the Starbase facility for a planned Starship V3 launch.
On Thursday (May 21), the “Anaconda” rapper attended the Boca Chica Beach event and was interviewed during a livestream, where she encouraged the Barbz to watch the rocket launch.
“Major shout out to Elon. Thank you for everything you’re doing for humanity,” said Minaj, who called the occasion “historic.”
The rapper also wore a graphic tee emblazoned with “Starship,” a clear reference to her 2012 hit “Starships” taken from her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
Repeated technical issues on Thursday resulted in the SpaceX launch having to be scrapped, but the problem was resolved the following day, whereupon Minaj congratulated the company on X.
In a recent interview with TIME, Minaj opened up about her shift into politics, and shared that it was partly caused by Gov. Newsom being unresponsive to her being targeted in frequent swatting attacks. Minaj said that in April 2025, Florida Republican congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna came to her aid.
“I was shocked,” Minaj told the publication. “I’d never seen anyone in politics treat me that way … That’s what made me say that I don’t care to keep this a secret anymore.”
