On Thursday afternoon, President Donald Trump announced the removal of Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position.
On Truth Social, Trump said that “she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future.”
Sources indicated to CNN and Fox News that Bondi was removed from her role before Trump delivered his address on Wednesday evening.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will temporarily assume leadership of the Justice Department. Trump is reportedly considering Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin as a potential permanent replacement.
Bondi’s tenure at the Justice Department was marked by scrutiny, particularly regarding her handling of the Epstein files. Upon assuming office, Bondi stated that the Epstein client list was “sitting on my desk,” in February, 2025, later claiming in July, 2025 that no client list ever existed. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing in early February, Bondi faced repeated questioning about the department’s redactions, delays, and overall approach to the case. Last month, Bondi was served a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee for further testimony related to the Epstein investigation.
