MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9), a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, today responded to the 51-49 Senate vote confirming Kash Patel as the next Director of the FBI, and made the following statement:
“Kash Patel is likely the most unqualified person ever appointed head of the FBI. The FBI is an agency that we have assigned the job of getting the bad guys since the days Chicago bootleggers Al Capone and Frank Nitti. It has protected us against gangsters and criminals, against the mafia, and against foreign influences, too. This man is not going to go after that kind of people; he is going to go after whoever Trump wants him to go after, including any FBI agents or Department of Justice officials who handled investigating or prosecuting January 6 defendants. Shame, shame, shame, America.”
