Representative Summer Lee is clearly not impressed with the way Attorney General Pam Bondi has handled the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files. The Democratic congresswoman has introduced articles of impeachment against Bondi and called out her department for protecting President Donald Trump.
Citing recent charges from the president’s longtime critics, including former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, Lee hinted that she intends to impeach the attorney general.

Bondi’s Department is ‘Out Of Control,’ Says Lee

According to USA Today, Lee slammed Bondi’s actions, which she claimed led to the transformation of the Department of Justice (DOJ). The congresswoman stated that Bondi’s actions make her unfit to serve at the nation’s top law enforcement agency. The attorney general’s administration is “out of control and that is completely lawless,” Lee added.
Lee explained that her decision to introduce the impeachment articles was drafted with the aid of the anti-corruption nonprofit group Free Speech for People. She further claimed that Bondi’s DOJ showcases political bias, highlighting recent investigations and prosecutions.
Additionally, Lee said that the Trump administration is currently pursuing a path of authoritarianism. The congresswoman added, “These are the actions that we will, in history, look back on and say that that was a glaring red flag.” In the USA Today report, it was mentioned that the impeachment articles were a joint effort from numerous Democrats, including Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib.
“The real overarching message is that the train is flying off the rails right now,” Lee stated. For Lee, it is an uphill battle because the House of Representatives is currently controlled by Republicans, and a two-thirds majority of votes is needed to impeach Bondi.
Lee said that there is a growing need for accountability and gradually building more pressure is crucial. The report confirmed that the articles are essentially accusing the attorney general of letting her department become a “personal law firm to serve Trump’s political interests and carry out his vendettas.”

Handling of the Epstein Files Needs ‘Accountability’

The USA Today report further stated that Lee accused Bondi of mishandling the Epstein files. She insisted on the need to have “some sort of accountability,” especially given how the investigation was handled. Lee added, “We’re going to have to build on that momentum.”
In reference to Epstein being found dead inside his prison cell, the CBS reported that during a White House Cabinet meeting, officials claimed that the prison camera systems were from 1999 and that they are attempting to retrieve the video from when Epstein reportedly killed himself.
When reporters asked Bondi about Epstein’s client list, she said, “It’s sitting on my desk right now to review.”
As Lee looks to impeach Bondi, the Republicans, however, are pleased with her performance.
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson reportedly praised Bondi’s work ethic. She stated that she works “tirelessly to successfully implement the president’s law and order agenda.”
