Karoline Leavitt made an appearance on Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump as she spoke with the host about growing concern about the rising cost of oil and gas in America

Karoline Leavitt has been compared to Pinocchio by Fox News viewers as she addressed the rising cost of oil and gas.
Prices have been increasing across America amid the ongoing war in Iran, with the American Automobile Association reporting the average price for a gallon of gas hit $3.60. It’s the largest spike on gas prices since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
With many Americans struggling to afford the increases, Leavitt insisted it’s only a temporary increase. During an appearance on Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump on Saturday, March 14, the White House press secretary suggested the Trump administration has a plan to address concerns.

Questioning Leavitt, host Lara Trump said, “Before I let you go, I do wanna talk about energy. Americans are obviously facing a temporary increase in gas prices as Iran is trying to impede movement there in the Strait of Hormuz. We’re now utilizing our strategic petroleum reserve.
“This is what it’s supposed to be used for, right? This is the time whenever a president taps it, not as they’re going into an election like we’ve seen in the past. But, what is your message to people out there in the country right now who might be concerned to see this blip and this increase in gas prices?”
Leavitt responded, “We understand your concerns. We hear you and we are taking them into account and we have a plan to address them. And this is a temporary short-term disruption in global oil prices that the president is ultimately going to rectify by wiping out the rogue Iranian terrorist regime.”
She continued, “The fact that the terrorists are holding the global oil industry hostage by threatening to shut down the Strait of Hormuz and traffic through the Strait, just underscores the need for President Trump to launch this operation in the first place.
“We cannot live in a world where we have radical Islamic terrorists threatening to hold the world’s oil market and global economy hostage like this. So the Trump administration, in the short term to address the rise in oil prices, has rolled out a plethora of solutions to address this issue; providing political risk insurance to oil vessels and tankers moving through the Strait.
“The president and commander in chief has said that he’s willing to use the U.S. Navy to escort ships if and when necessary when the military deems appropriate to do so. We’ve waved some sanctions for sanctioned oil that’s already at sea to kind of stabilize the prices and then of course, as you mentioned, the release of oil from the strategic petroleum reserve, which this president takes very seriously and is doing responsibly, unlike the last administration who abused the SPR for political reasons to try to artificially lower gas prices ahead of an election.”
Leavitt branded the previous government “despicable.” She added, “This president takes it very seriously. We will refill the SPR as soon as this operation is over, but ultimately, your audience must remember, this is for the long-term gain of wiping out the threat of a Iranian terrorist regime from obtaining and using a nuclear bomb against the United States of America and our allies.”
A clip of the Fox News segment was shared on X, where people were quick to share their thoughts. “Boop here’s another,” one person posted as they shared an edited picture of Leavitt with a long nose so she resembled the Disney character Pinocchio.
Another Fox News viewer claimed, “They have been lying and saying its going to be temporary short term disruption since the war with Iran started. Oil isn’t an a light switch.”
“She’s stupid as well,” someone else wrote as they shared an edited picture of Trump holding a sign reading, “I’m stupid.” A fourth viewer commented, “They wouldn’t have done it if they’d been left alone…just saying. And now look where we are.”
“No acknowledgement that the Strait is closed because they; the USA and Israel attacked Iran,” another person fumed. “Additionally there was no mention of insurance companies withdrawing insurance for the tankers as the risk is too high. Even if US gains control will they reinstate insurance?”
