Donald Trump signed the ‘Take Down Act’ with First Lady Melania Trump in attendance at the White House on May 19. The new legislation will enforce stricter penalties against individuals distributing non-consensual intimate imagery, often known as ‘revenge porn’. The law also enjoins responsibility on websites and social media companies to take down any such material, including ‘deepfakes’ within 2 days of a complaint.
