White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed mounting concerns from American mothers about a potential military draft as Operation Epic Fury continues in Iran with seven Americans killed
Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who officially addressed concerns that President Donald Trump would be implementing a draft, as attacks on Iran persist and seven Americans have been killed.
The former Georgia representative did not mince words about Leavitt’s comments on Sunday morning. “Karoline Leavitt doesn’t rule out a draft,” said Greene.
“How about the answer is NO DRAFT AND NO BOOTS ON THE GROUND because we campaigned on NO MORE FOREIGN WARS OR REGIME CHANGE!!!” Greene added. “Liars, every single one of them! Not my son, over my dead body!!!!!“

During an appearance on Fox’s Mornings with Maria, conservative journalist Maria Bartiromo questioned Leavitt on how she would assuage mothers worried about their sons and daughters being drafted if Operation Epic Fury continues indefinitely.
“The president had an interesting exchange on Air Force One over the weekend, Karoline. I want to get your take about this idea of troops on the ground,” Bartiromo said.
“Mothers out there are worried that we’re going to have a draft, that they’re going to see their sons and daughters get involved in this,” She probed Leavitt. “What do you want to say about the president’s plans for troops on the ground? As we know, it’s been largely an air campaign up until now.
“It has been, and it will continue to be,” affirmed Leavitt, 28. “And President Trump wisely does not remove options off of the table.”
“I know a lot of politicians like to do that quickly,” the press secretary went on. “But the president, as commander in chief, wants to continue to assess the success of this military operation.”, reports the Mirror US.
According to Leavitt, implementing a draft is “not part of the current plan,” but “the president, again, wisely keeps his options on the table.
“As commander in chief, there’s no greater priority or responsibility to this president than, of course, protecting the American people and protecting our troops and our bases in the Middle East, which Iran has been threatening for 47 years,” Leavitt professed. “They have killed and maimed thousands of American soldiers.
“And President Trump was not going to allow Iran to attack our bases and our troops and our men and women in the Middle East first,” finished Leavitt. “And that’s why he took this historic action by launching Operation Epic Fury.”
Responses to a potential draft proved divided. “Why didn’t he just tell the moms to shut up because the DOW is over 50,000? Isn’t that the party stance?” one individual commented.
“When asked if Americans should be worried about attacks here at home, he said ‘I guess,'” a second individual stated. “And when we lost 6 soldiers, he said, ‘That’s the way it is,’ But ok, Karoline. He cares about protecting Americans. Sure.”
“Wait, didn’t they say last year that recruitment was WAY up anyway?” a third individual noted. “It should literally just be ‘We don’t plan on sending troops to the ground.’ It’s that simple,”.
Forever war
Leavitt’s remarks arrive as Republicans grow increasingly anxious that the Iranian strikes could potentially trigger another “forever war.”
The Hill reported that, with the 2026 midterms quickly approaching, numerous Republicans worry the conflict might jeopardize the GOP’s chances of retaining control of both the House and the Senate.
Whilst many members have largely stood behind the president and his choice to strike Iran, some have expressed uncertainty about whether they’re prepared to back the military operation. Tennessee Republican Tim Burchett told The Hill he was “concerned” the operation might deteriorate into an endless conflict resulting in significant American casualties.
“I think that’s why I want the public to stay involved,” he told the outlet. When questioned earlier this week about the message he’d like to convey to MAGA voters, he responded, “I would say stay concerned. I mean, be concerned. Be vigilant. Hold our feet to the fire. Keep us honest on that issue.”
