NEW: FBI Veteran Chosen to Replace Bongino | The Gateway Pundit

Tevin McLeod - January 10, 2026

FBI veteran Christopher Raia will replace Dan Bongino as co-Deputy Director, according to media reports.

Raia previously served as the assistant director in charge of the New York Field Office. He also served as a deputy assistant director in the Counterterrorism Terrorism Division at FBI Headquarters in DC.

Fox News and ABC reported that Raia will begin work in his new role alongside Andrew Bailey on Monday.

Raia joined the FBI in 2003.

Per ABC News:

The FBI says that the current head of the FBI’s New York field office, Christopher Raia, is being appointed as the agency’s co-deputy director — taking over the position Dan Bongino just left.

Sources say Raia is expected to start in his new position as early as Monday.

This means that an agent will once again be in a deputy director role atop the FBI. Earlier this year, the FBI Agents’ Association said that, after being nominated as FBI director, Kash Patel assured the association’s leadership that an active FBI agent would take the reins of the deputy director — but Bongino then ended up as deputy director.

Fox News also confirmed Christopher Raia will replace Bongino.

“FBI veteran Christopher Raia has been named co-deputy director of the federal law enforcement agency, the bureau confirmed Friday to Fox News Digital,” Fox News reported.

“Raia, who runs the bureau’s New York City field office, will move to Washington, D.C., and begin his job on Monday, and will serve as co-deputy director with Andrew Bailey,” the outlet reported.

Last month before Christmas, Bongino confirmed he was resigning from the FBI.

Bongino announced his resignation just weeks after Brian Cole of Virginia was arrested for planting pipe bombs at the RNC and DNC on January 5, 2021.

I will be leaving my position with the FBI in January.
I want to thank President Trump, AG Bondi, and Director Patel for the opportunity to serve with purpose.
Most importantly, I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you.
God bless America, and…
