An Iranian state television outlet has reportedly broadcast a “news segment” detailing efforts to locate and murder President Donald Trump’s 20-year-old son Barron, including a $10 million reward to be paid for a successful assassination.
According to dissident website Iran International, the three-minute segment broadcast by Iranian state television was an “unusually explicit” threat, entitled, “Where to Kill Barron Trump?” and featuring “stylized graphics depicting surveillance, online activity, and people in his surroundings.”
“The segment displays locations and online platforms purportedly associated with the effort and depicts attempts to map social connections around the president’s son and penetrate layers of Secret Service protection,” Iran International reported.
The segment concluded by claiming that “many would be willing” to claim the $10 million reward for assassinating President Trump’s son. Iran International noted that none of the claims of an active murder plot made by the Iranian TV segment could be independently verified.
“The decision to air such material on Iranian state television is significant in itself. Threats against Trump and other current and former U.S. officials have featured for years in Iranian political rhetoric, state-linked media and rallies, alongside alleged assassination plots that U.S. authorities have attributed to Tehran,” the report added.
Some of those threats have been directed against President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump and American prosecutors have accused operatives of Iran’s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of actively plotting to kill current and former U.S. officials.
During the extended state funeral for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in July, the regime and its supporters displayed banners and billboards calling for the assassination of President Trump.
The Times of Israel (TOI) on Monday observed that the Iranian TV segment on Barron Trump “showed animations purporting to represent Barron’s frequent locations, as well as his daily habits and hobbies, such as playing video games and hanging out with his friends.”
One of those friends was named as “Liam Carter,” but it was “unclear from the video if the purported friend actually exists or if the identity and social media profile were used for illustrative purposes.”
The Iranian video claimed Barron Trump’s primary residence was the student dorm at Constance Milstein & Family Global Academic Center at New York University’s Washington campus. Barron Trump is enrolled at the university.
Like other Iranian assassination-threat videos, the “Where to Kill Barron Trump?” segment included flashy computer graphics that supposedly picked out the locations of his security team on campus, but TOI said it was “unclear if the depiction had basis in actual intelligence gathered by Iran.”
