Anthony Fauci pleaded the Fifth about 111 times during his Senate hearing.

That’s quite a turnaround for the man who proudly announced back in 2022 that he was “very happy” to testify before Congress because he had absolutely nothing to hide.

Revolver:

Fauci was so sure of himself that he said he was happy to testify. He could explain and defend everything he had done, top to bottom. He said he’d cooperate fully because there was simply nothing for him to be afraid of or hide.

That’s what he said back in 2022. And those words were really easy to say when the “president” was Joe Biden, Trump was off the political radar, and the consequences of what he did and didn’t do felt so far away.

Fast-forward to today, and suddenly the man with “nothing to hide” has absolutely nothing to say.

Natalie Winters:

Fauci in 2022: “I am very happy to testify before any congressional oversight committee.

I have nothing to hide. I can explain and validate everything that I’ve done.

I’m going to do what I need to do, and that is cooperate fully, because we have nothing to hide at all.”

Funny how that works.

When Dems controlled Washington and Fauci knew the political machine had his front and back, he couldn’t wait to explain and defend everything he had done.

But now that President Trump is back in charge and Republicans are asking questions that could carry real consequences, Fauci suddenly can’t remember how to speak.

His lawyers argue that he still has the right to invoke the Fifth Amendment. Republicans, however, believe Biden’s sweeping autopen pardon changed the legal equation. Their argument is pretty simple: If Fauci has already been pardoned for the conduct Congress is asking about, how can truthful answers still place him in legal danger?

Some Republicans are already discussing contempt proceedings and possible criminal referrals if they can establish that Fauci refused to answer questions he had no lawful basis to avoid.

But now, they’re making their first concrete move.

And while it may not put Fauci behind bars, it could make sure the former face of America’s COVID response never collects another federal paycheck.

Fox News:

A House GOP proposal would bar Dr. Anthony Fauci from working for the federal government again after his dramatic hearing on Capitol Hill this week.

Fauci appeared before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, chaired by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., where he invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times.

Republicans have been hammering the former public health official over the move, and now a new bill by Rep. Rich McCormick, R-Ga., would bar him from returning to his old duties and potentially open him to criminal prosecution.

“We saw him evade so many questions, pleading the Fifth… that’s fine, that’s your constitutional right,” McCormick said in a video shared with Fox News Digital. “But you also have the right, if your till comes up short at Burger King, when your boss asks you why are you short $20 in your cash register — if you plead the Fifth, that’s your… ability, but I can fire you.”

He argued, “It should be the same way in government. If you don’t want to answer questions about what you did wrong, we should be able to fire you.”

The bill, called the STOP the SWAMP Act, would bar people from working for the federal government if they refuse to answer certain questions from federal lawmakers or if they are convicted of perjury, according to a news release on McCormick’s website.

It would also authorize members of Congress to refer hearing witnesses for prosecution if they were found to have unlawfully withheld information from lawmakers, the release said.

This would also give lawmakers another path toward referring uncooperative witnesses for criminal prosecution and stopping powerful federal officials from stonewalling Congress and hiding behind the Swamps Deep State machinery and still expecting to remain a houseguest in the system.

Of course, let’s keep in mind legislation only matters if Republicans actually follow through.

They still have to decide whether they’ll challenge Fauci’s use of the Fifth, pursue contempt, and force the legal fight that Rand Paul has been threatening to do.

And the pressure on Fauci isn’t exactly easing up anytime soon.

While Republicans think about their next move, RFK Jr. is starting another battle over Fauci’s shameful COVID record.

During a very heated appearance on CNN, Kennedy accused Dana Bash of repeating the old “establishment narrative” without dealing with the facts.

RFK Jr. NUKES Dana Bash Live On CNN For LYING About Vaccine Side Effects:

“You’re repeating like a PARROT!”

“Now we know that Anthony Fauci, who was the ‘expert,’ was lying about everything…”

The hearing may be over, but the questions are still piling up.

That includes the bitter fight over ivermectin…

Fauci FRAUDULENTLY claimed ivermectin didn’t work so the government could inject the entire population with emergency-use-authorized gene therapies.

106 studies involving 200,000+ patients show ivermectin:

Fauci made his move when he pleaded the Fifth.

Now Republicans have to make their move.

Taking away Fauci’s massive taxpayer-funded pension would be a much stronger move in our opinion. But at the very least, Republicans are right to make sure Dr. Ghoul can never return to government, collect another taxpayer-funded paycheck, or put more innocent Americans at risk.
