Jack Schlossberg believes his cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will run for president in the 2028 election. His speculation comes after both RFK Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, have explicitly said he won’t be running for president and he’ll continue backing Donald Trump.
RFK Jr. set to run for President in 2028, says cousin
While campaigning for his own Congressional race in Manhattan, Jack Schlossberg said he believes his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the current Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), will once again run for president in the 2028 presidential election.
“He’s going to run,” Schlossberg told the New York Post. “He’s got a real following.”
Similar to MAGA (Make America Great Again), Kennedy has been promoting his MAHA (Make America Healthy Again) agenda. Speaking of it, Schlossberg noted that RFK Jr.’s followers are “cultish” about him. He added that they’ll continue to support RFK Jr. even when what he says “doesn’t make sense.”
Nonetheless, the political commentator said that he would give RFK Jr. credit for being “a brilliant mythologizer” and added that he is “good at what he was doing.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched his 2024 presidential campaign as a Democrat, challenging then-President Joe Biden. He then shifted to an independent run on October 9, 2023. However, despite receiving massive support, he suspended his campaign to back Donald Trump in August 2024. Trump later nominated RFK Jr. to serve as Secretary of HHS.
Since then, Secretary Kennedy has served the Trump administration. However, like Schlossberg, many have speculated that RFK Jr. will run for president again in the next election.
In August 2025, Kennedy took to social media to deny any such allegations, emphasizing his support for Trump. He said, “I am not running for president in 2028. My loyalty is to President Trump and the mission we’ve started.”
During an interview with NewsNation, Kennedy’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines, concurred with her husband’s remarks. However, she also noted that he ran for president last time despite saying that he wouldn’t. So, it remains to be seen what RFK Jr.’s ultimately decision will be.
