President Donald Trump made a memorable entrance at the G7 summit on Wednesday morning, arriving after the meeting had already begun, before delivering four words that instantly became one of the most talked-about moments of the gathering.
“I’m the boss.”
The comment came as Trump entered a working session that was already underway in Évian-les-Bains, France, where leaders from the world’s largest advanced economies had gathered for the final day of the summit.

The other leaders sat down and began discussing economic issues as Trump walked into the room.
French President Emmanuel Macron greeted him with a smile.
“Oh, hello, Mr. President.”
Trump paused before taking his seat and responded with a grin.
“I’m the boss.”
The room erupted in laughter.
While the remark was clearly delivered jokingly, it also captured the reality of much of this year’s G7 summit.

Whether discussing Iran, Ukraine, energy markets, trade, migration, or global security, the biggest conversations throughout the gathering have revolved around decisions that Washington is making.

Trump’s arrival came after a busy morning that once again showed how much of the political spotlight remained on the White House.
Before joining the summit session, Trump spent the morning posting on Truth Social, celebrating Republican primary victories and announcing a surprise decision to temporarily withdraw the nomination of Jay Clayton to serve as Director of National Intelligence.
The move immediately sent ripples through Washington.
“I will not approve FISA without THE SAVE AMERICA ACT going along with it,” Trump wrote.
The announcement placed additional pressure on Senate Republicans already struggling to find a path forward for the election-integrity legislation.
But politics back home was only part of the story.
At the summit itself, world leaders were still digesting the administration’s newly announced framework agreement with Iran, which has rapidly become the dominant foreign policy story of the week.
Administration officials confirmed that Trump and Vice President JD Vance electronically signed a memorandum of understanding with Iran over the weekend, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf signed on behalf of Tehran.
The agreement remains preliminary, with detailed negotiations expected to continue over the next 60 days.
Still, the announcement dramatically shifted the focus of the summit.
European leaders arrived hoping to discuss Ukraine, trade disputes, economic concerns, migration, and regional security.
Instead, much of the attention quickly shifted toward Trump’s diplomatic breakthrough and questions surrounding the future of U.S.-Iran relations.
Vice President Vance has spent much of the week pushing back against reports claiming the agreement includes a massive reconstruction fund for Iran.
“What everybody will see is that Iran doesn’t get a dime of money unless they perform their obligations,” Vance said.
Trump also met separately with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the summit.
The one-on-one meeting was not originally on the president’s public schedule, but underscored the continuing importance of the war in Ukraine during discussions among G7 leaders.
Following the meeting, administration officials confirmed that weapons sales to Ukraine would continue as negotiations surrounding a broader settlement remain ongoing.
Despite predictions of tension heading into the summit, Trump and several world leaders noticeably improved their relations compared with previous international gatherings.
Trump’s entrance on Wednesday also produced another memorable moment.
As Macron attempted to begin the session, Trump interrupted and invited reporters to remain in the room.
“Would you like to stay for the meeting? It’s OK with me,” the president said.
French officials quickly ushered journalists out anyway.
As reporters exited, Trump joked about the conditions inside the meeting room.
“It’s too hot in here,” he said.
The moment captured the informal style that has often defined Trump’s interactions at international summits.
