The Democratic National Committee is essentially broke, having had to use its office building as collateral this election cycle just to obtain a $15 million loan.
The DNC owes more money than it has on hand, putting Democrats at a distinct monetary disadvantage. Meanwhile, the GOP is flush with cash.

President Donald Trump could provide Republicans with a significant fundraising advantage ahead of the November midterm elections as he touts the massive financial resources amassed by the super PAC MAGA Inc.
In an interview with Punchbowl News published last week, Trump pointed to the organization’s roughly $800 million war chest and suggested that those funds could play a major role in helping Republican candidates as the party works to maintain control of both the House and Senate.

“I could spend it on pretty much anything I want. I’m going to spend it…I’m going to help Republicans,” Trump told the subscription news service.
The president also referenced last week’s campaign stops in Nevada and California on behalf of GOP candidates.
“I don’t have to be away in Nevada yesterday, in Los Angeles yesterday making speeches. I didn’t have to be supporting all the people. You know I have a busy schedule,” Trump said.
The remarks come as state primary contests begin to wind down and new details emerge about the Republican Party’s first midterm convention, which is scheduled to take place in Dallas next month.
According to a report by Axios, party leaders plan to argue that Democrats have become increasingly aligned with their activist wing, with a particular focus on highlighting socialist policies and rhetoric.
The report said the convention is expected to feature video clips of figures such as political commentator Hasan Piker and Senate candidates James Talarico of Texas and Abdul El-Sayed of Michigan as part of an effort to portray them as representing views outside the political mainstream.
In a speech a week ago in Nevada, Trump said, “Filth, crime, death, destruction, embarrassment. You lose your home, you lose your apartment and that’s where the communists will take us 100%.”

The developments come as several outside organizations are also ramping up their political efforts ahead of the midterm elections.
The centrist advocacy group Third Way is reportedly preparing a $15 million campaign aimed at the Democratic Socialists of America.
The initiative is intended to challenge the group’s political influence and criticize the growth of democratic socialist policies within the Democratic Party.

Third Way said it believes the Democratic Socialists of America represents what it described as a “mortal danger,” underscoring the increasingly sharp ideological divisions within the Democrat Party shaping the 2026 election cycle.
“Don’t spike the football people because winning the primaries is one thing,” Third Way’s Executive Vice President for Policy Jim Kessler told The National News Desk this week.
“You won it by a whisker, you got to win the general election and you’re not going to win the general election in Michigan if you’re seen as an extremist,” Kessler continued.
“You’re going to have to win moderate voters,” he added.

It’s pretty clear, however, where the party is headed, and it’s not in the direction of the old school Democrat moderates.
“I would say to the moderates in our party you need to figure out how to actually offer something new to voters that isn’t just the same message you gave them in 2024,” Democratic National Committee vice chair and gun control activist David Hogg told CNN last week.
