Trump’s Private Doubts: RFK Jr.’s Mental State Under Scrutiny

Trump Reportedly Expresses Concerns Over Health Secretary, Eyes Political Rising Star

Washington D.C. – Speculation is mounting that former President Donald Trump is experiencing a degree of unease regarding the performance of his Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. According to insights from a prominent biographer, Trump has been proactively reaching out to aides and allies, seeking their candid assessments of Kennedy’s tenure within the administration.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was appointed as the head of the Health and Human Services (HHS) department on February 13, 2025. While his time in office has not yet extended beyond a year, reports suggest the former President is already scrutinising his effectiveness and public perception.

Veteran author and biographer Michael Wolff has shed light on these internal discussions, revealing that Trump has been making inquiries about Kennedy’s standing. “I know that he’s been calling around and saying to people, you know, ‘I hear people say, Bobby is crazy. You think he’s crazy?’” Wolff shared in a recent interview. This suggests a level of personal doubt or perhaps a strategic concern about Kennedy’s public image and its potential impact on the administration.

A Shift in Focus: The Allure of Jack Schlossberg

Interestingly, while Trump appears to be grappling with questions surrounding his Health Secretary, his attention seems to have pivoted towards another prominent member of the Kennedy family: Jack Schlossberg. Schlossberg, the grandson of President John F. Kennedy and an outspoken figure within the Democratic Party, is reportedly gearing up for a run for an open House seat in New York. This potential political manoeuvre has evidently caught the former President’s eye.

Wolff elaborated on Trump’s fascination with the young Schlossberg, noting a distinct admiration. “He’s kinda enamored with this kid,” Wolff stated. “I’m sure the poor guy does not want a Trump endorsement, but it really sounds like Trump is tickled by this.”

The biographer further suggested that Trump views Schlossberg as a potentially significant political figure. “Trump has been saying, that guy seems like maybe he’s the real thing, he’s the grandson,” Wolff explained. This sentiment appears to be part of a broader political calculation for Trump, where he sees Kennedy as a “problem” and is perhaps looking to leverage the family name in a different, more favourable direction with Schlossberg. “The Trump thing is clearly, you know, RFK is a problem. Let’s push him this way. And then to praise the cousin—who is condemning him,” Wolff added, highlighting the perceived strategic juxtaposition.

A Contentious Claim About Middle East Geography

The timing of Trump’s reported mood check on RFK Jr. is noteworthy, coming not long after the Health Secretary himself made a rather unusual claim about the former President’s grasp of geography. Kennedy alleged that Trump once drew a detailed map of the Middle East on a placemat, complete with troop strengths for various countries.

According to Kennedy’s account, Trump “grabbed a placemat, turned it over, took a Sharpie, and drew a perfect map of the Middle East. Then he marked the troop strength of every country along each border on that map. It challenged a lot of the assumptions I had been told about him.” This anecdote, if true, would paint a picture of a President with a surprising level of detailed knowledge on a complex geopolitical region.

However, the veracity of this claim has been met with considerable scepticism. In response to the assertion, California Governor Gavin Newsom’s official account, using a meme, directly questioned the source, implying it might be fabricated.

Public Scrutiny and Media Reactions

The reports surrounding Trump’s alleged concerns and his interest in Schlossberg, coupled with Kennedy’s geographical anecdote, have generated significant discussion and commentary across political circles and media outlets.

  • Skepticism over Kennedy’s Claims: The claim about the Middle East map has been widely debated, with many questioning its authenticity. Critics have labelled Kennedy’s assertions as “nonsense” and a “new low,” especially given the lack of verifiable sources.
  • Political Maneuvering: Trump’s reported interest in Schlossberg is being interpreted by some as a strategic move, potentially aiming to capitalise on the Kennedy name while simultaneously criticising RFK Jr.
  • Internal Administration Dynamics: The insights from Wolff suggest a dynamic within the administration where public perception and perceived competence are under constant evaluation, even from the former President himself.
  • Media Reports: Various news outlets have covered these developments, with headlines ranging from “Trump reins in RFK Jr as new law cripples health secretary’s core vow” to “‘Politically toxic’ Cabinet member will be out before midterms.”

The ongoing narrative surrounding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump’s apparent scrutiny, alongside the emerging interest in Jack Schlossberg’s political aspirations, continues to be a focal point in the current political landscape. The interactions and public statements from these figures will undoubtedly be closely watched as their political trajectories unfold.
