(TNND) — A group of Democratic lawmakers is advocating for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant currently held in a Supermax prison in El Salvador.
The lawmakers have expressed their intention to visit El Salvador if Garcia is not brought back to the United States.
Attorney General Pam Bondi criticized the lawmakers’ stance, stating, “These people are so detached from reality that they do not care about the victims of crimes in this country. There is a reason Donald Trump declared MS-13 as a foreign terrorist organization.” Bondi further commented on FOX News’ Jesse Waters’ Primetime show, “They are organized crime at its worst. They are rampant throughout our country.”
The Trump Administration acknowledged that Garcia should not have been deported to the Supermax prison in El Salvador. However, they clarified that they are not responsible for his return unless El Salvador decides to release him.
The White House issued a statement on Monday, asserting that Abrego Garcia “has no lawful right to be in this country” and was given a final order of removal.
