The viral claim is false. The truth is that the image was created as a joke by James Schlarmann, a known satirist who runs the Facebook page @JamboSchlarmbo. He confirmed in the comments that the quote was made up, writing, “I write jokes guys, please remember to temper your outrage with that.”
There is no evidence that Bondi ever made such a statement. A Fox News spokesperson also confirmed that the graphic is fake and never aired on the network, reported Snopes. The font, layout, and missing elements in the image also differ from Fox News’ usual formatting.
The photo used in the meme is real and was taken during an April 16, 2025, press conference where Bondi announced legal action against the state of Maine over its transgender athlete policies, Snopes reported. The people who are shown standing behind her, Rep. Laurel Libby and Riley Gaines, were also present at that event.
The fake quote surfaced shortly after Bruce Springsteen criticized the Trump administration during a May 15 concert in the UK, calling it “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.” Trump responded on Truth Social, calling Springsteen a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” and warning him to “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”
While the heated exchange between Trump and Springsteen is real, the quote attributed to Bondi is actually false.
