As war continues to rage across the Mideast, Pope Leo XIV spoke today of the power of Confession to foster peace and unity — and posed a pointed question: “One might ask: Do those Christians who bear serious responsibility in armed conflicts have the humility and courage to make a serious examination of conscience and to go to confession?”
Speaking at the Vatican to seminarians and priests as they attended training regarding issues related to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Pope Leo said: “The dynamic of unity with God, with the Church, and within ourselves is a presupposition for peace among peoples. Only a reconciled person is capable of living in an unarmed and disarming way!”
Amen.
Confession, after all, is good for the soul — and especially necessary for those who commit grave sins against God and humanity, Catholics Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, boarder czar Tom Homan, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and departed Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who for 13 months oversaw the vast DHS communications campaign for President Donald J. Trump’s brutal immigration crackdown.
