White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to a question about Elon Musk’s increasingly personal feud with Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro on Tuesday by boasting about being part of “the most transparent administration in history.”
Musk and Navarro have been going at it over the last several days. While Musk has come out against President Donald Trump’s tariff heavy trade policy, calling for a free trade zone between the U.S. and Europe as well as taking a personal shot at Navarro for not having “built shit,” Navarro, a longtime protectionist, has gone to bat for Trump’s policy and suggested that Musk’s criticism of it is based on self-interest.
In a series of posts on Tuesday, Musk took the feud with Navarro to the next level in a scorched earth rant.
“Navarro is truly a moron. What he says here is demonstrably false,” replied Musk to a clip of Navarro.
“Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks,” he added in a post that saw him tag both the longtime Trump adviser and the handle “@IfindRetards.”
After right-wing influencer Mario Nawfal posted in support of Musk’s argument, Musk even went so far as to reply by calling Navarro “Peter Retarrdo.”
Still, Leavitt seemed unfazed by the public sniping when asked about it by CNBC’s Eamon Javers on Tuesday.
According to Javers, Leavitt first replied “Whatever,” when asked about Musk’s latest volley of attacks before boasting “We are the most transparent administration in history, expressing our disagreements in public.”
