Kash Patel condemns Pahalgam attack, pledges FBI support to Indian government

archiescom - April 26, 2025

FBI Director Kash Patel has condemned the recent terrorist attack that took place on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives. He called the attack a stark reminder of the persistent global threat of terrorism.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Patel expressed condolences to the victims of the attack and pledged continued support to the Indian government.

“The FBI sends our condolences to all the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir — and will continue offering our full support to the Indian government,” Patel wrote.

“This is a reminder of the constant threats our world faces from the evils of terrorism. Pray for those affected. Thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who answer the call in moments like these,” he added.

The already strained ties between India and Pakistan plunged to a new low after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in Kashmir by terrorists from The Resistance Front — a group believed to be a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The April 22 attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, was the deadliest in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama strike that left 40 CRPF personnel dead.

In the wake of the deadly terror attack, India announced a set of punitive diplomatic measures against Pakistan, signaling its strongest response since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

The retaliation, spanning trade, diplomatic engagement, soft power, and digital platforms, included an unprecedented suspension of all visa services — including medical visas — for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect.

India also ordered all Pakistani citizens currently in India to leave, while advising Indian nationals to avoid travel to Pakistan. Additionally, India revoked visas granted under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for select categories of Pakistani nationals, instructing those still in the country to depart by Friday evening.

And most importantly, New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty — a decades-old agreement that had endured three wars and numerous terror attacks, including 26/11 and Pulwama. The move is likely to cripple Pakistan’s already fragile agricultural sector.
