President Donald delivered an ultimatum to Rep. Ilhan Omar after new evidence in the federal investigation involving her was discovered this week.

Trump is demanding that the Minnesota Democrat resign from Congress after a Justice Department court filing identified the Minnesota Democrat as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” adding another controversy to an ongoing federal investigation into her immigration history.
Trump seized on the disclosure during a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday, arguing that the alternative name raises serious questions about the identity Omar used when she was elected and sworn into Congress.

“It’s not looking good because she used a fake name to be sworn in,” Trump told supporters before saying he believed Omar should resign immediately.
Trump repeated the demand on Truth Social, asserting that Omar’s real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi and accusing her of fraud, although Omar has made no such admission and no court has found that she used a fraudulent identity.
The controversy stems from a Justice Department motion filed Wednesday in connection with requests to unseal materials surrounding the federal search of Omar’s Washington, D.C., residence.
The filing refers to the property as the residence of “Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar,” but prosecutors did not explain in the publicly available document why they used that formulation.
Fox News Digital subsequently reported that two people familiar with the federal investigation, including a law enforcement source, said Ilhan Nur Said Elmi was Omar’s birth name.
Omar’s office disputed that account, telling Fox News Digital, “This is completely false. Ilhan Omar is her real name.”
The Elmi surname has attracted particular attention because Omar legally married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009, years before she was elected to Congress, and the couple later separated before their marriage was legally dissolved in 2017.

Omar has for years faced allegations from critics that Elmi was her brother and that the marriage was connected to immigration benefits, but she has repeatedly denied the allegation and it has not been established in court.
The issue resurfaced during Omar’s recent interview with MS NOW host Chris Hayes, who asked whether she had any familial relationship with Elmi after she again rejected claims that she had married her brother.
“Not to my knowledge,” Omar responded, with her spokesperson later saying the remark was sarcastic and reiterating that Omar had “repeatedly and unequivocally” denied being related to her former husband.
Trump highlighted that exchange during his Iowa rally and again Friday during an appearance in Florida, using it to bolster his demand that Omar leave Congress.

The dispute comes as federal investigators examine whether Omar or her late father made false statements on immigration paperwork, according to sources familiar with the investigation cited by Fox News Digital.
Homeland Security Investigations agents searched Omar’s Washington residence earlier this month and seized her cellphone and passport, while investigators have also questioned her sister, Sahra Noor, according to Fox News.
Omar has accused Trump and his administration of politically targeting her, describing the search of her home as an abuse of federal law-enforcement authority.
She responded directly to Trump on Friday, again rejecting his allegations and maintaining that Ilhan Omar is her name.
