Trump’s approval rating ROSE this week as he launched new trade war: Daily Mail poll | The Post Millennial

archiescom - April 6, 2025

The universal 10 percent tariff that was proposed by Trump has more Americans in support of it than opposing it.

President Donald Trump is more popular now than before he enacted several tariffs on imported goods to the US, which also led to the stock market taking a dip earlier this week as global markets adjusted to the trading plans.According to a DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners survey that polled over 1,000 voters between March 31 and April 3, Trump’s popularity rating has increased from 49 percent to 53 percent. During that same time, Trump announced a widespread tariff of 10 percent across nearly all US imports as well as a number of reciprocal tariffs on nations that have trade barriers imposed on imports of US goods. The Mail reported that despite the backlash Trump has gotten from some surrounding the tariff policies, his approval rating is up by 13 points for those aged 18 to 29 since March 7. Trump also saw a 6-point increase among Democrats as well as independent voters, according to the survey. This comes as reports have said that prices of common goods will increase because of the tariffs. The universal 10 percent tariff that was proposed by Trump has more Americans in support of it than opposing it, according to the poll. 36 percent of those surveyed supported the policy, 28 percent opposed it, and the remaining 36 percent were unsure of what to think of it.39 percent of voters supported the increase of tariffs on all imported goods while 37 percent opposed such a proposal while 24 percent were not sure. There has been speculation regarding what will come of Trump’s tariff policy as Trump has previously said that he is open to negotiating tariffs and trade deals with other countries but has also signaled that the tariffs are here to stay. After Trump implemented the reciprocal tariffs, some countries have contacted the White House, looking to cut a deal and drop all of their tariffs against US imports. On Friday, Trump posted on Truth Social that he was contacted by To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the political leader was willing to drop all tariffs against the US to zero if the US and Vietnam could work out a negotiated deal.”I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future,” Trump concluded in the post.
